Review: Carmine Street Guitars

Film documentaries have introduced me and many others to subjects that we know very little about. But when the film does work, you feel you know enough to want to know more about it.

This particular subject is certainly out of my knowledge as it's to do with guitar building. I never thought of this profession. But this particular one managed to be incredibly engrossing viewing.

With the USP being rather extraordinary and the history this particular store has, it was more than just about building guitars.

One aspect that made it such compelling viewing was it was presented. In a film documentary, you would usually see many interviews. Thus one however explains it's story by showing conversations with various people and making us like a fly on the wall.
That seemed to work incredibly well as the stories from every person during each conversation really added to the overall story. It made this store almost beacon for hardcore guitar enthusiasts.

It's great when a film documentary can get you sucked into a story about something that you know nothing about.
You can feel as well as see the passion the people involved are putting in and it instantly wants to make you experience it. Plus, with the unique style of guitar building these people do, you get to also hear about the history of the city they're situated in, New York.

I found this really enjoyable, highly engrossing and very endearing. I'll be surprised if this doesn't make you want to visit this incredible store.
